Rare solid brass cased pocket compass attributed to F Barker & Son of 12 Clerkenwell Road, London, and dating to circa 1880 - in museum condition
Lid closes firmly, locking the card to prevent damage when being carried, and opens on a firm, strong hinge, automatically unlocking the card
The rare transparent mica dial is in perfect condition and sits on a jewelled cap - it finds north perfectly
The compass is unsigned, but this design was produced only by F Barker & Son, usually supplied to other companies who then branded it with their name
