ANTIQUE circa 1865 F BARKER & SON POCKET COMPASS

Handsome brass hunter cased pocket compass bearing the pre-1875 trade mark, produced while Francis Barker Snr. was alive.  The styling of the compass dates to around 1860 - 1865.

Hand painted mother of pearl dial in perfect condition bearing the trade mark FB&S LONDON on a jewelled cap, points perfectly to north.  Cardinal marks in red underneath the original crystal in perfect condition.  Transit lock blocks the compass when the lid is closed and releases the card (dial) when the lid is opened - fully functional.  The lid opens and closes correctly, and the hinge is in perfect condition.

Diameter (excluding hinge, neck, etc., 44.8mm.

The brass case in in very good condition and carries the pre-1875 triangular Trade Mark London F Barker & Son trade mark inside the lid
