RARE ANTIQUE GEORGIAN ENGLISH POCKET COMPASS WITH RARE CROWN CAP
Rare solid brass cased pocket compass dating to circa 1790 - 1820
Press on lid. Case and lid free of dents. The only damage to the exterior is a tiny part of the milled edge of the lid (see photographs)
The original glass has some tiny chips to the edge (see photographs)
The dial is in almost perfect condition and the blued needle, marked N and S in gilt, sits on a rare brass crown cap - it finds north perfectly
The compass is unsigned, but its style, the crown cap and the type of blueing of the needle date it to around the turn of the 1700s to 1800s.
This compass is over 200 years old
